Event Details

Founded 2016 in New York City, Diálogos Duo is the preeminent U.S. clarinet-guitar duo specializing in contemporary Brazilian music. “Diálogos” means “Dialogues” in Portuguese.

Virtuoso clarinetist Louis Arques is from Grenoble, France and a Vandoren artist. Effortlessly negotiating Brazilian music’s complex melodies and rhythms, Richard Boukas provides robust guitar accompaniments which capture the authentic character of each Brazilian genre.

Boukas’s prolific 120 compositions for the Duo are the largest body of contemporary Brazilian repertoire for clarinet and guitar worldwide. Their music fuses traditional and popular Brazilian genres (samba, choro, baião, frevo, maracatu, maxixe, valsa, etc.) with contemporary jazz and classical vocabularies. Each movement is a tribute to a legendary Brazilian composer/musician.
